With most of Gilbert reading contemporary, large-format pavers are a popular choice, though the Heritage District's more traditional character can call for a tumbled, old-world look.
Materials
We install travertine that stays cool underfoot at high noon, large-format pavers for a modern feel, tumbled pavers for warmth, natural stone, and porcelain. On Gilbert's bigger patios there's room to combine materials — a field paver with a contrasting border, for instance — that would feel busy on a smaller lot. Built for the conditions

We build on a deep, compacted aggregate base, set a precise bedding layer, lay the pavers, lock the perimeter with hidden edge restraints, and compact polymeric joint sand against weeds and washout. We grade the surface to carry water away from the home, and the modular paver system flexes with the ground instead of cracking like a poured slab.
HOA and lot considerations
Many Gilbert communities run HOA design review. We're used to selecting materials and colors within approved palettes and submitting clean selections so your patio clears review smoothly. On the larger lots, we also plan the layout to relate to the rest of the yard rather than treating the patio in isolation.
